Ein Muß als Titel meiner Rezension klingt vielleicht zu grob gefaßt- aber eigentlich ist das Buch wirklich ein Muß nicht nur für Graffity-Freunde sondern für jeden politischen Menschen mit einem Sinn für das Absurde- das Absurde der Politik, die uns untergejubelt wird und dafür, was wir für Wichtig halten.Außerdem ein toller Querschnitt über die Arbeit von Banksy- unbekannt, kreativ, komisch, unerwartet, unkommerziell, teils hochpolitisch, kritisch.(Kennt ihr den Film "Exit throug the Gift Shop?)Das Foto aus New York habe ich vor ein paar Jahren gemacht. Muß Banksy sein. Besser kann man mit einem "Bild" meine Meinung nicht ausdrücken.
Banksy hat mit seinen Arbeiten die Szene revolutioniert!Dieses Buch wird der Aussage gerecht.Sehr gute, zahlreiche Fotografien seiner Arbeiten in optimalen Hochglanz, dazu Quotes von Banksy und Randnotizen, Texte aus Banksy`s Feder und jedes Foto mit Zeit und Ort dezent in der Ecke versehen.Für Liebhaber der Streetarts ein Muss!
Als das Buch ankam, war es deutlich größer und schwerer, als ich es mir vorgestellt habe.Auf der ersten Seite ist ein Polizist zu sehen, der dir den Mittelfinger rausstreckt. Und das zeigt sehr gut, was einen erwartet ;-)Die Bilder von Banksys Werken sind alle sehr gut und scharf und durch das Format des Buches auch groß genug, um alles sehen zu können. Man kann sich also gut vorstellen, wie die Werke in echt auf einen wirken.Zwischen den Seiten und den Bildern hat Banksy immer mal wieder eine wahre Geschichte aus seinem eigenen Leben hineingepackt oder zitiert andere Leute, was mich persönlich sehr amüsiert hat. Ist zwar auf Englisch geschrieben, aber wer diese Sprache zumindest ein wenig beherrscht, müsste alles verstehen können.Auf der Hinterseite des Buches, als krönender Abschluss, steht:"There's no way you're going to get a qoute from us to use on your book cover"Metropolitan Police spokespersonHaha also ich find's klasse und das zeigt auch nur wieder, was Banksy alles drauf hat! Sehr empfehlenswert!

Banksy realisiert Werke mit unglaublichem Einfallsreichtum und führt dem Betrachter vor Augen, dass nichts so sein muss wie es zunächst scheint.In Hamburg wird ein Banksy übrigens bereits durch Plexiglas vor Beschädigung geschützt, in England wurde gerade ein Graffitti von Banksy von einer Wand "gestohlen" und anschließend bei Sothebys zur Versteigerung angeboten...Sehenswert auch der letzte Teil des Buches, in dem er eigene Werke in öffentlichen Museen unterbringt und dokumeniert, wie lange die Werke dort jeweils überlebt haben. Eins dieser Werke wurde inzwischen in die Sammlung eines der Museen übernommen.Das Buch dokumentiert die Werke Banksys aus den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen und ist immer wieder vergnüglich durchzublättern. Meine Empfehlung: unbedingt zugreifen!
Das Buch "Wall and Piece" von Banksy trumpf nicht nur durch die geniale Streetart dieses Künstlers auf, sondern auch durch die gut geschriebenen Texte, welche seine Kunst erklären. Seine Motivation genau das zu tun, was ihm durch den Kopf geht wird klar erkenntlich und trotzdem ist diese spontane Kunst meist tiefgründig, politisch und sozialkritisch. Es macht Spaß sich durch das Buch zu blättern und seinen Gedanken freien Lauf zu lassen.
I had heard about Banksy, but hadn't seen much of his graffiti art. I actually bought this book for my husband, as he likes this kind of provocation, but I've definately enjoyed it as much as he has. The book or rather his work is pretty cheeky, often thought-provoking, but also very clever and definately art although it is still graffiti, mostly using a stencil.The book is mostly composed of photos of his work, which generally dont need explaining, but the text that is there is worth reading, it just gives you more insight into the irony or as I said before the "cheekiness" of the graffiti by telling you where they were sprayed, when, if there was something particular about it or what happened afterwards and often also how long it took to spray.A good gift, but also great to have on your own coffee table. I didn't buy the hard cover, but I think that would have been better as it is a good 240 pages and has already been browsed through by so many people, so I'm a bit worried that it might start to look a little tatty soon.
Mit diesem netten kleinen Buch bekommt man, meiner Meinung nach, einen guten Einblick warum Graffiti und Streetart keineswegs Vandalismus ist. Banksy ist einer der wohl bekanntesten und konsumkritischsten Streetartkünstler unserer Zeit. Hier gibt er einen kleinen Einblick in seine Aktionen. Wie er sich z.B. im Zoo in Barcelona in einem Tiergehege vor der Polizei verstecken muss oder was er von kommerzieller Werbung hält. Er zeigt sehr schön, dass es mehr ist als Vandalismus und nicht immer nur hässliche Schmiereiern sein müssen. Sehr zu empfehlen!
Tolles Ausstellungsbuch. Schön illustriert und beschrieben. Format stimmt, Aufteilung der Bilder auch. Ein interessantes Buch zum durchblättern aber auch zum lesen.
